- A Tattoo Autoclave is the first piece of tattoo equipment you should purchase when setting up a new shop.
- An Autoclave is essentially a pressure cooker primarily used in the medical field for sterilizing medical instruments. An autoclave must maintain a temperature of at least 121 degrees for 20 minutes in order to fully sterilize the equipment. A perforated or wire mesh basket of the appropriate size is placed open end down inside the Autoclave. It acts as a "shelf" for sterilizing equipment as equipment should be placed above water level for achiving steam sterilization only.
